Greenwich Concours 2009
An invitation to the Greenwich Concours International is something we look
forward to every spring. For me personally, this was my 11th trip to the
Greenwich Concours and the quality of the field has never disappointed. This
year was no exception and as you can see from the pictures Mother Nature
agreed to cooperate.
This year we brought a 1959 190SL Roadster in Black (DB040) with Bamboo interior
to compete in the Concours on Sunday June 7th. Compete it did,
but more on that later. We loaded it on the trailer for our weekend road trip
which included a stay at one of our good friend's/customer's house in Westport,
Ct. Many thanks to her warm hospitality and most excellent barbeque.
Sunday morning was the perfect time for a top down drive on the Merit Parkway.
The show was very well attended this year and Mercedes-Benz was well represented
with 12 cars in our circle. Also on display were the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class
sedan and E-Class coupe as well as the highly unusual Terrafugia. The unique
grand drive through of every car on the field started at 3:00 PM, that's
when we found out the 190SL took the prize of "Best German Touring Car 1958
-1965." This was a very exciting moment for all of us at European Auto Solutions.
This 190SL is locally owned and recently visited our shop over the winter for
engine bay detailing and full service.
Many thanks to Bruce and Genia Wennerstrom for all their efforts in sustaining such a fine automotive celebration.
